144 Sporadic 'E' July 03. 2002
 


First opening started at 12:17 UT from F (JN13) into LZ and SV. Few minutes later EA2 made YU and the band opened from G, PA0, ON, DL into 9H1, IT9, I8. Few had some luck with 7X2LS who made it into OE, HG, OK and DL. This opening ended at 13:59 UT. Later at 15:30 UT LZ was working into 4K6 for some 10 minutes. Involved DXCC today:
EA, EA6, 7X, F, ON, PA0, G, GW, DL, OK, OM, SP, HG, 9A, S5, IT9, I, 9H1, SV, YU, LZ, YO, 4K6.

Rig: 60 W, 11 el.; It was the second opening on 2 m in 2002 for me and it was nearly "strange" like the first one(8.6.02, only CT1HZE). The show starts suddenly at 12:34 with Roger (9H5L) and he was the one and only for approx. 15 min.. At 13:05 he was back again with John (9H1XT) and Joe (9H1CG).

  You have missed out a few of the reasons that can also trigger 144Mhz Sporadic E:
1. Switching off the amplifier.
2. Going for a meal break.
3. Going to work.
4. Working on the antenna system.
5. Going on Holiday.

Similarly these things can stop SpE:
1. Taking a day's holiday to listen for SpE.
2. Sitting in the shack all day on a nice sunny warm day.
3. Switching the amplifier on.
