Here we go - Welcome Sporadic 'E' in 2005
Like in 2004 144 Es starts pretty early again. When in 2004 we had the first one on May 2nd we caught the early bird on April 28th in 2005. Although 50 MHz was almost dead in March and the beginning of April MUF was rising fast the last four days. Starting Monday April 25th 50 MHz was open each and every day. Yesterday MUF was beyond 100 MHz for the first time in this year from HA to 4X4 and from UB5 to I. Early this morning 50 MHz was in a very good shape and MUF was rising pretty fast in the morning UTC hours when f0Es was at almost 12 MHz at 11:00 UT at JO20. Later another cloud was moving from mid Italy to the Alps reaching 144 MHz at 13:53 UT when IS0 was 59++ suddenly into JO32. A very nice opening started with G, GJ, GU, GW, EI, EA, F, ON, PA, DL, OK, SP, OE, HA, YU, S5, 9A, T9, I, IS0, IT9 and 9H playing the Sporadic 'E' game. Almost 80 minutes of strong 144 Es in April, aint that promising?

At the beginning of the opening, I was able to work IS0GQX in JM49OH (1479km) with 59, then the usual silence returned on the 2m-band here in JO42CO. Sometimes weak sigs from Italia appeared and disappeared at the same moment, so that station on Sardinia mentioned above was the only station I was able to work from here. I am using an Icom IC7400 with 100W into a 9el Yagi from Flexa (13m over ground and ca. 60m asl). Good luck and I hope the new Es-season will be successfull for all! 73 es Gl de DB4BIN (Ingo)

What a nice start into E-s season this year.
Although I was very close to the reflection-centre
I could work three stations from Sardegna in SSB.

A really surprise! An Es on April! I was listening on 6m very strong signals from YU, 9A, etc and someone posted on ON4KST chat Es on 2m. Incredible. From Madrid (IN80) I've heard about a dozen of HA stations, HA0HO and HA5LV with booming signals. Best DX for me HA0HO, with 2174Km. Conditions here 2x5/8 + 5 watts, not so bad! Miguel A. Hi;
First of all, all apologies for locator error, due to a bad datum conversion : my right location was JM08BR (instead of JM08UP).My QTH was Benitatxel, on Spanish Costa Blanca, @ 380 m a.s.l.
Operating with only 2.5 watts from a Yaesu FT817 and 2 elements VHF antenna (also 2 elmt UHF on the same boom)see :htp://f1ujs.free.fr/EA5/ea5.html

Nice early opening with only 1 QSO made and a few IS/I stations heard. Very rapid QSB, strongest IS0GQX, JM49OH worked at 14:20 with 9+30 signals. ! minute later he was gone. Heard IW0UEI several times peaking to S9 but most QSO's were made to my North. Hopefully this good early opening will be repeated soon! 73 Catharinus PE1AHX - 400W in 3wl.
